Locher, Inc Backstory

Locher, Inc was founded in 1993 by Scott Locher. Scott started running machine tools before his 13th birthday. Starting out on manual machines before graduating from trade school and moving on to becoming a CNC operator. He ran several different types and brands of machine tools over his time. It was during his run as an operator where he learned the ins and outs of machine tool operation and personally experienced the issues and problems that come with maintaining the machines to the highest standards.

When his time as an operator came to an end, he decided to branch out into the maintenance side of the field. His knowledge of the operation of the machines helped him diagnose and solve problems. This created a long list of dedicated customers who only wanted him to do the work on their machines. In 1993 he decided to branch out on his own, focusing on in-place spindle grinding initially.

As the customer list grew, so did the list of services offered. Starting with simple drawbar repairs to complete spindle removal and rebuilds, then to metrology and machine alignments, and a full blanket of machine tool maintenance.
