Machined Spindle Tapered Inserts

Working in a machine tool repair capacity, Locher, Inc. can design and build custom tapered inserts for specific, particular machines and tools. For example, a client came to Locher, Inc. with a boring bar that had a cracked taper. The bar was machined and modified to accept a Locher designed insert, which then brought the tool back to its original length, with a brand new taper surface.

An additional benefit of our tapered inserts is that they can be replaced with others if there is not enough time available to have it ground in-place. This insert was manufactured to a .0001" tolerance to ensure the closest fit with the boring bar, and custom tapered inserts can be machined to a variety of lengths, diameters and bolt patterns, dependent on application.
