Design and Integration of Custom Conveyor & Machine System for Transporting Train Wheels

Using our design and manufacturing expertise, Locher, Inc. produced this full, integrated custom conveyor and machining system for a customer in the train wheel production manufacturing sector. Beginning with a set of full drawings reviewed by the client, we designed this custom system based upon their unique and specific machining and conveyor needs.

This custom system solution required addressing two separate issues: transporting train wheels from storage to machining centers to final inspection, and designing and integrating the machining centers - in this case, two large mills - to machine the wheels as part of the process. The system also automatically flips the train wheels for machining on both sides. Once the system was designed and manufactured by us, we carried out all operational programming, and installed the system on-site at our customer's facility.
